Positioning Yourself at a Desk

Move the Sit-A-Round™ to the desired position in front of the desk. The chair should be even with the front edge of the desk. Sit down with your back to the desk and then swivel to face the desk.

When you are using a computer, the viewing distance should be somewhere between 16 and 24 inches from the monitor and ideally, the top of the screen should be at or just below eye level. Raise or lower the monitor as necessary to meet these requirements.

How to Sit on the Sit-A-Round™ Ball Chair

Sit directly on top of the ball. The ball should feel secure under you. Adjust the height so that your feet are planted firmly on the floor in front of the chair and a comfortable distance apart, generally in line with the shoulders. The chair should be high enough to place the thighs in a sloping position (as opposed to being at right angles to the hip joint).

Move back and forth a little on the ball to find a spot that is most comfortable for you.

Move side-to-side a little to test the limitations of the ball.

The process of active sitting utilizes a new set of muscles. It is, in fact, a muscle-toning device. As with using muscles in any new activity, it is important to build up your strength gradually. Do not sit for extended periods of time, at the beginning of your experiment with the Sit-A-Round™ to avoid muscle tension. We recommend the following use schedule:

First week:
Day One: One hour or less
Day Two: Two hours or less
Day Three: Three hours or less
Day Four: Four hours or less
Day Five: Five hours or less

Second week:
Use the Sit-A-Round as you would any chair, taking breaks as needed.

IMPORTANT!

It is very important to take frequent breaks to give your muscles and eyes a chance to rest. Get up off the ball. Move around and stretch your upper body. If you are working at a computer, look away from the screen and focus your eyes on a far corner of the room for ten seconds every 15-20 minutes.
